PUBG MOBILE

PRO TIPS AND TRICKS

BY MORTAL

PUBG is more than just a regular shooting game. It is strategy + skill set. After playing it for over 9 months, I can confidently list down how a newbie can hit the high tiers in PUBG.
I will try to mention ways to improve at each step if possible. Else, that comes from experience.
Start each step at a slower pace and when you get comfortable, increase the pace or devise your own methods which pushes you out of your comfort zone.
  • Learn basic movements: As a kid grows, first he learns to move before he runs. Similarly, movement is essential. I have seen many players having trouble with this (even in Platinum tier). Simply roam around for a few days using jump, crouch, prone in the training room or the map. Move in houses, jump through windows, jump across walls etc. Learn Bunny hops, which is useful when you are being shot at from a distance.
  • Master the joystick: This comes under the movements as well but I mentioned this explicitly because movement consists of 2 parts:
    • Controlling the joystick.
    • Controlling the cross hair (, viz, swiping the screen). The thumb rule is, one should never lift his thumb from the joystick.
  • Find the Right sensitivity: Don’t just go to YouTube and search for ***’s sensitivity and copy them. No, it doesn’t work that way my friend. Sensitivity is device dependent. Different mobile devices have their unique calibrations of sensitivity. Also, it depends a bit on the quality of the hardware used in the device. So, practice in war mode and find the right sensitivity. Yes, you do need to refer to YouTube but to find out what the different sections in the sensitivity section imply.
  • Improve Aim: This is extremely important. Damage stats: Head > Body > Limbs. So, always try to AIM for the head.
    • Practice 100’s of Kar98 matches in war mode and always aim for the head. Sensitivity and reaction time play a crucial role here. If you have the right sensitivity, aiming for the head will be quite easy. But if it’s too high to too low, you will have a hard time aiming for that head. Improve accuracy of head shots with every match.
    • Use the app ‘Aim Master’ to improve this skill. This step will take some time, but then you gotta stick to it. Just play it for 5–10 mins before PUBG.
  • Learn recoil control: Most of the PUBG population doesn’t use AKM because of it’s recoil. But once controlled, this gun is as good as the Drop guns. This gun is a beast and my personal favorite.
    • Start with an easy recoil gun, say M416 or vector. use red dot and shoot the targets in training ground at 30 m. Once you feel easy, switch to higher scopes progressively. Once you are comfortable, increase the distance, then switch to guns with higher recoil; AKM maybe(? :P). One trick here with recoil for 6x is to convert it to 3x which reduces the recoil drastically.
    • One can use Gyroscope as well for recoil control.
Points after this are quite advanced and these separate the newbies from the experienced players. These can’t be learned in war mode or training ground. You need to play real matches to learn these or play in mini zone.
  • Learn to play Strategically: This depends from player to player and from situation to situation. This does come with experience, but can be improved by analyzing the situation. One way to improve this is by playing solo vs squad. Yes you will loose the 1st few matches but if you analyze what different you could have done, you will win coming matches.
  • Improve Reaction Time: This is a very minute thing but comes at a great cost. If both you and your enemy are face to face, the one with better aim and reaction time will survive (although their respective guns also matter, but skills can nullify the difference). Use the app ‘reaction trainer’ to improve this part. Again, this step will as well take some time, but consistency is the key.
  • Be as fast as lightning: Be fast. Be insanely fast. Don’t give your opponent any opportunity to think or even take an aim on you. What I mean by this is to reduce the time to think what to do next. You spot an enemy- don’t camp and plan your next moves. Rather go in there, and get that Chicken Dinner! But that doesn’t mean you don’t strategize. You definitely do that- but efficiently and quickly.
  • Learn Compound Movements: Once basic movements are mastered, this makes sense. The motto of this is to dodge as many bullets as possible as well as take down the enemy. Keep moving to dodge the bullets. Moving here doesn’t necessarily mean to change your position. It can be moving your upper body while standing still or bunny hops or leaning to sides. After all, it gets harder to hit a moving target, right?
    • Eg: One of my personal favorite in close encounter was maneuvering left & right and alternating the peeks. Devise your own movements and see what works for you. Just use one or more combinations of these: peek left, peek right, crouch, maneuver, jump.
    • This is where you might want to switch to 4/5 finger claw.
  • Personalize a Gun combination and stick to it: I always used AKM+ M416. Didn’t matter if I get AWM. Stick to the combination in every match. What this does is:
    • You get used to the recoil control of the gun.
    • You develop a muscle memory for the recoil.
    • You learn the in’s and out’s of the particular weapons.
So, these are just a few things I learned while playing PUBG. There are a few more like never reload while in close fight- rather switch guns, don’t engage in healing or reviving during encounters etc. These come naturally with experience.
Don’t engage in pushing ranks in the initial days. Simply Hot drop solo vs squad in Georgo/ Novo/ Pochinki/ Military base- almost every flight route has atleast one of these locations. Hot drop and try to get as many kills as possible. Doesn’t matter if you get killed in 5 mins of the match after killing 8 people. Although you will loose rating points, but your k/d will automatically be up and you will learn a lot. That’s how you Persevere.
Happy Chicken Dinners :D
